Reiki is a Japanese word (pronounced ray-key) that means healing with the energy of the Universe.  The practitioner uses the energy that we have around us all of the time and directs it to promote healing.

How is this done?  Think for a moment about radio waves or micro waves.  They’re all around us, but not useable until they’re channeled respectively through a radio or a micro wave oven.  Same with Reiki.  The energy is there, all around us but not tapped into or harnessed for healing.  One method of using the energy is through Reiki.  The only way to become a Reiki practitioner is to be attuned by a Reiki Master Teacher (I assure you that this is totally painless and exhilarating!).

In a Reiki session, the practitioner gently lays their hands on the client’s fully clothed body. If the person doesn’t wish to or can’t be touched, the energy may be beamed to the person – it still works!  At the practitioner’s request, the Reiki energy enters the top of their head (through the crown chakra) travels to their heart, and then out their hands to the client.  Just as water seeks its own level, Reiki seeks the place in need of healing whether, it be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.

Phran teaches First, Second, Master, and Master Teacher Levels of Reiki. On the First Level, you are qualified to conduct a healing session on yourself, family, friends, pets, or whomever you wish. On the Second Level, you receive 3 symbols; power symbol, mental/emotional symbol, and long distance healing symbol.  These symbols add to the strength and flexibility of Reiki. The Master Level adds much more versatility, and you receive the Master symbol to work with. Besides being able to send Reiki through your hands, you are taught to send Reiki through your breath, your eyes, and your thoughts. You learn how to cleanse yourself of negative energy and to clear objects of negative energy, plus breathing techniques, meditating techniques and psychic surgery. The Master Teacher Level is for learning how to teach and attune others to the power of Reiki.

There is no age limitation for learning Reiki – you could be 9 years old or 90. All that is necessary is the desire to learn the technique.  First, Second, and Master Levels are taught in one full day or two half days each. Master Teacher Level requires 4 classes.
